Supervision for Counsellors & Psychotherapists

The power and importance of effective supervision cannot be underestimated. The work we do is a privilege, it is hugely rewarding and interesting. It is also demanding of all aspects of who we are. We meet our clients intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. We are constantly forming, building, maintaining and holding relationships, encountering the pain, trauma and suffering, as well as the hopes and dreams of others.

I’m here in service of you as a practitioner and in service of your clients, people I know are immensely important to you. I will support you to explore themes and interventions in your client work and navigate the ethics and vagaries of the profession. As your supervisor, I am also here for you as a person. I will spend time getting to know you and to understand your values and interests. We are therapists, but we are also people with lives, passions, challenges and troubles of our own. Just like our clients we may struggle with financial or health worries, with relationships and child rearing, with aging, ill health and self-doubt, as well as coping with bereavement and loss in our personal lives. We are impacted by events in our communities, in society and the wider world as well as by the politics of the organisations we work for or the precariousness of self-employment.

My approach is down to earth, collegiate, respectful. My greatest hope for my supervisees is that they can bring anything at all to supervision, professional, personal and existential, whether deeply serious and profound or humorous and irreverent – and that we can explore and thrash it out together.I will be there to support and challenge you and above all to respect and cultivate the person and the therapist you are.

I offer supervision face to face in Southampton and online via Zoom.

Supervision Fee: to be discussed.
